Stainless Steel UNS S31700 Pipe Fittings are a grade of chromium-nickel spec stainless steel known for more excellent corrosion resistance than 304-grade stainless steel and its mechanical properties. To meet this high level of performance, S31700 pipe fittings contain chromium and molybdenum at 17–18% and 3%, respectively. Further increasing the corrosion resistance of these fittings is the addition of nickel to the alloy, which brings the total to 11–15%. A small amount of nitrogen is typically included in the mix as well. While these elements give S31700 pipe fittings exceptional qualities, they also differentiate them from traditional grades of stainless steel, such as 304 or 316. They make it the preferred choice for applications exposed to harsh chemicals or environments where strength and corrosion resistance are top priorities.

UNS S31700 Stainless steel, also known as alloy 317, replicates the properties of chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steel and presents more excellent resistance to chemical corrosion than conventional stainless steel.
