Copper Nickel 90/10 electrodes are one of the most versatile electrode materials due to their strong mechanical properties and excellent welding characteristics. This type of electrode is composed of a base alloy of 90% Copper and 10% Nickel, with slight amounts of other elements such as iron, manganese, and silicon forming part of the alloy makeup. Copper Nickel 90/10 electrodes have a tensile strength lower than nickel-based alloys but higher than standard carbon steel electrodes. They also demonstrate high conductivity and corrosion resistance and are ideal for welding mild steel components used in marine environment applications.
90 10 cu ni alloy are made from copper and nickel alloy, with superior corrosion resistance and high strength properties. The 90/10 copper-nickel electrodes are often seen in subsea applications such as building fish cages, production riser welds, or heat exchangers. 90 10 cu ni can resist harsh conditions such as very high salinity, extreme temperatures, and moisture levels. It also provides excellent electrical conductivity and is often used for similar purposes on ships, offshore rigs, etc. They are mainly used due to their ability to resist bimetallic corrosion from seawater, seawater environments and highly saline industrial water sources. This makes them a preferred material where the longevity of the structure underwater is required.
The density of the material is 8.1g/cm3. The alloy has a tensile strength of 550MPa while the yield strength is 240MPa. The elongation capacity of copper-nickel 90/10 electrode is 30% in 50mm.
The components of the filler wire are carbon, chromium, nickel, manganese, copper, zinc, iron, and lead. The manganese and iron percentages are almost negligible in improving corrosion resistance.
