Hastelloy C276

Hastelloy C276 is a nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy with tungsten and iron as additional metals. It has excellent corrosion resistance in various aggressive media, including sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, alkalis, chlorides and wet chlorine gas. Its high molybdenum content gives it greater resistance to localized attack than other alloys such as stainless steel and aluminium bronze. The composition includes Nickel (59%), Chromium (17%), Molybdenum (15%-16%), Iron (4.5%-7%). Small amounts of Cobalt, Tungsten, Carbon, and manganese are also present for improved formability and strength.

Hastelloy C276 is an alloy made of nickel, molybdenum, and chromium, which offers excellent corrosion resistance in a wide range of highly acidic and chloride-containing environments. It also offers outstanding mechanical strength at high temperatures, making it suitable for critical applications such as chemical processing, nuclear waste disposal systems, and pollution control equipment. Its ability to resist stress cracking corrosion also makes this material one of the most sought-after alloys for use in heat exchangers and flanges operating under extreme conditions.
