Aluminium 5052

Aluminium 5052 is an alloy of various metals (primarily aluminium, magnesium and chromium) with great corrosion resistance and formability characteristics. It also has excellent welding properties, making it ideal for automotive applications such as car exhausts. Its relatively high strength-to-weight ratio allows for use in structural components and many other engineering projects. The chemical composition of Aluminium 5052 includes 95.3 – 98% aluminium, 0.1 – 0.5% chromium, 2–2.5% magnesium, 0–0.25% iron and up to 0 1 % manganese, with the balance being zinc or silicon depending on the grade used.

Aluminium 5052 is an alloy of aluminium and magnesium that offers various beneficial properties for various applications. It has good workability, weldability and corrosion resistance, excellent electrical conductivity with low thermal conductivity, high strength-to-weight ratio and flexibility. Its suitability extends to various industries, including marine, automotive, aerospace and defence. It can be used to create parts that require greater toughness, such as automatic transmission plates or fuel tanks, allowing it to be more cost-effective than heavier materials.
